SSD vs. HDD (part 1 of 2)
Feb 18th
In this video, I demonstrate the biggest advantages of owning an SSD. I do this by torture testing both an 80 GB 5400 RPM laptop drive (probably has 8 MB cache) and a Crucial 128 GB SSD with 64 MB cache. Torture Test Part 1: Transferring a 40 GB folder from the hard drive to an Iomega 1 TB external (I called it a Simpletech in the video… I was wrong it actually is an Iomega) Torture Test Part 2: Installing a game Torture Test Part 3: Loading and using a web browser What I hope to demonstrate in the video is that by using an SSD, any program you use will run as fast as if you were not running any installs or lengthy file transfers in the background. I hope you enjoy it! Asus G50vt X-5 specs: -Intel P9500 core2duo (2.53 Ghz, 6 MB L2 cache) -4 GB DDR2 800 RAM (3 GB usable under Windows XP) -Nvidia geforce 9800M GS (512 MB GDDR3 VRAM) -128 Crucial SSD (64 MB cache) CT128M225 Dell XPS M170 specs: -Intel Pentium M 760 (2.0 Ghz, 2 MB L2 cache, single core) -2 GB DDR2 533 RAM -80 GB 5400 RPM HDD -Nvidia geforce 7800 GTX (512 MB GDDR2 VRAM) Part 1 of 2
